Useful Prompts: Economic Research Paper Topics

Research papers are never easy; sometimes they are done in just the nick of time, and then you aren’t proud of how they turned out. Sometimes what a student needs is just a starting place. Sometimes when a teacher assigns a paper, without specifics on topics, it can really be stressful to find a topic to write on. When you aren’t sure what to write about, the paper can be pushed to the back burner and then the due date catches you by surprise.

Sometimes you just need a prompt to kick-start your economic research paper. Here are some suggestions:

  • What does it mean by, “It is a market failure?”
  • Aggregate demand and supply rule
  • What causes exchange rates?
  • Types of inflation and the consumer price index
  • What are the stages in economic development?
  • What is bank liquidity management?
  • What are some of the causes for the recession in America?
  • What is the relationship between corporate governance and financial market
  • What causes the upheavals in oil prices in the world?
  • What is the relationship between micro and macro level economic performance
  • How does a business data model work?

These suggestion can really kick start any economic research paper. Having these prompts will give any student writer the starting point that he or she needs. So when a teacher just gives an assignment without any topic parameters, it’s important to ask question to narrow it down. When you start a research paper out with asking questions to help you guide the paper, then you are forced to find an answer. Make sure the reader will be able to follow a specific type of thinking. Asking a question and then researching the answers will give a path to the paper, allowing it to flow.

If you answer the following questions, then you have a quick and easy outline for a paper, no matter what topic you are writing about in economics. Ask these questions:

  • What is the problem?
  • Who caused the problem?
  • When did the problem occur?
  • Why did it become a problem?
  • Where does the problem cause the most damage?
  • How can the problem be fixed?

Using these suggestions and taking ideas from this list of prompts can help turn any economic research paper assignment into an easy paper to complete and one that should be able to impress any teacher. Just remember to always thoroughly research the answer and always cite all sources. Never plagiarize or copy someone else’s work.
